The
ACQUA International Group (ACQUA) was incorporated in August 2001
to bring together the personnel, Know-how, Intellectual Property
(IP) and businesses associated with a number of highly efficient
liquid/liquid and solid/liquid separation technologies. These technologies
were primarily developed by Neville Clarke (refer to Research &
Development) and owned and commercially exploited by Australian
resident companies since 1993.
These technologies are regarded
as industry leaders in wastewater treatment and recovery of liquid
and solid products from wastewater streams.
ACQUA's business focus is on
the wastewater industry.
Water, one of mankind's most
precious commodities, covers approximately 70% of the Earth's surface.
97% of water is saltwater and 3% is freshwater of which 2% is locked
away in glaciers, icebergs and snow with the remaining 1% accessible
for human consumption.
In a 'Fortune' magazine article
titled "Water, Water, Everywhere" (May 15th, 2000) it
was stated that:
"...the water industry
is one of the world's greatest business opportunities. Supplying
water to people and companies is a US$400 billion a year industry.
That's 40% of the size of the oil sector and one third larger than
global pharmaceuticals.
What exactly is the water
industry? Unlike oil, water isn't mainly about finding new supplies.
But it is about infrastructure. The object is purifying the huge
quantities collected from wells, rivers and rain, and distributing
it, with total reliability, to absolutely everyone. That epic job
doesn't stop with drinking water. It also encompasses treating 'wastewater'
or sewage, an area that's just as big and complex."
